Motivation to Succeed

What motivates one to succeed? Scientists believe it is the desire to belong to a social group or family. It is the acceptance and pride of our family members and piers that drive us to try to achieve success. Examples of this can be observed with children attending college or university to earn their degree or diploma. When they complete their higher education, the pride their friends and family exhibit motivates them to succeed in obtaining a high economic status.

Success is not only socially motivated. It is also survival of the human species. We must either hunt for food, which is seen in many indigenous societies, or maintain employment to earn money. The motivating force for most to succeed is to insure the survival of themselves and their families. Parents scramble to get that big promotion so they can earn extra income to feed their children is the perfect example to illustrate man’s motivation to succeed and survive. The parental encouragement motivates their children by illustrating the need to survive by encouraging them to earn a good education. The children willingly or reluctantly motivate themselves to achieve good education and employment to show their parents they too possess the motivation to succeed. In addition to their attempts to succeed in education and in the job market, they will often try to build a happy family.

The quest to motivate people to move forward and succeed has been happening since the beginning of the human species. We are continuously motivating ourselves to achieve and succeed in everything we try. What people should motivate themselves to do is ponder what they consider success. For some, it is obtaining a high education and earning millions. Others motivate themselves to succeed in raising their children. Thus, the motivation for success is a natural instinct, whether simple success or great, we have all motivated ourselves to succeed in our lives.
